Christmas at First Baptist Church in Swansea

The customs of this church family emerge from the special sense of the season.

As we prepare ourselves to celebrate the birth of Jesus in the Bethlehem stable, we focus each week on our Advent theme: "Unexpecting the Expected."  Each Sunday we light one candle of the wreath during the "Children's Moment", marking
each week until we come to that special time: Christmas!

On Dec. 18 at worship, the church school will present their program which will be a hybrid media production! The Kid's Choir will sing. Afterward there is a Christmas luncheon for everyone to enjoy. Just before we head home, the fabled Christmas saint himself stops by to greet the girls and boys.

On Christmas Eve we gather at 6:00 p.m. to sing carols and light candles. This is a special family service with surprises and delights. This year again, we are asking for pictures from your family to be included in a slide show during the worship. Please submit 3-5 .jpeg digital photos to the pastor at revdochart@gmail.com  We will complete our worship service by singing "Silent Night" and lighting our candles.

On Christmas morning our worship will be informal around the tables in the vestry. There will be special music by Beverly and Charlie and a continental breakfast that will be shared by all who join us. So come and join us for this great and joyful time.

Please join us for any and all of our seasonal celebrations!

Merry Christmas and a Healthy, Happy New Year!

Christmas and children! The story is told again

These pictures are from Christmas 2010. They represent our congregation's great hope and faith in the story that began with the birth of the Bethlehem baby. The youngest members of our church family symbolize the newness of life and the great promise of the Advent and Christmas seasons.

So much of the Christmas season is the sharing which we do in worship and in table fellowship.
