| Holy Week April 17-24, 2011
Palm Sunday April 17 ~ 10 a.m. Worship includes special music and the distribution of the Palms as we do each year. Join us as we ponder the impact of Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem.
Maundy Thursday April 21 6:30 p.m.
An Agape Meal and celebration of the Lord’s Supper will be shared with the Baptists from Warren. The meal will be pot luck with those names beginning A-K and T-Z bringing main dishes or salads and those with names beginning L-S bringing deserts. There will be readings, singing and reflections to help us ponder the memory that dark night long ago when…we ask ourselves if we still want to be with Jesus.
Good Friday April 22 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
Traditionally the most somber of days, Good Friday is a time for deep reflection and prayer. The meeting house will be open from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with guided meditations on the half hour. Come sit and ponder the imponderable…the meaning of “Good” Friday.
Easter Sunrise!!! 6:00 a.m. [please check in April for more details]
This early service is shared this year with Baptists and other congregations from Somerset, Swansea, Rehoboth and Fall River. It will be held at a private residence overlooking the Taunton River. (570 Main St. Somerset) Parking is a concern on Main Street, so it probably makes sense to park along High Street and walk down and/or car pool from the church or walk. Sunrise is ~6:20, a.m. so we will gather for the worship at 6:00 a.m. In the event of rain, we can all join at the church to celebrate and have breakfast together.
Each congregation is being asked to contribute breads or pastries for a continental breakfast which follows at the SBC, 375 High St. Fruit, juices and coffee will be provided. Swansea Baptists may carpool with the pastor from our parking lot at 5:30 a.m.
Easter Morning! April 24 10:00 a.m. Our worship will begin with the joy and exuberance of the children dancing in our aisles. We will hear the choir sing and we will ponder the frightening mystery of God’s awesome deed as it releases within us hope and renewed purpose.
There will be an E-Egg hunt for our youngest immediately after worship...indoors if the weather is unpleasant.
