Here we answer the question:
What is the Founders’ Festival?
It is a time of celebration and fellowship offered to the wider community by the First Baptist Church in Swansea, whose members founded the town of Swansea in 1667. Today we remain the oldest Baptist church in Massachusetts. We make our history our motivation to continue to serve the people of this historic area with public worship, teaching and celebration.
Food & Celebration!
A delicious lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m.~2:00 p.m. prepared by the congregation’s favorite cooks!
A selection of home-baked goods and desert table with delicious choices will be offered to tempt your sweet tooth all day.
Activities and games for children will take place all day.
History: There will be displays to tell the story of our congregation from its beginnings in 1663.
Expect surprises, too!
Community members and groups invited!
As our congregation continues to serve the inter-city area between Providence and Fall River as it has for 347 years, we encourage interested people and community service groups from the area to be a part of our festival.
Arts and Crafts
Local artists and crafters will share their expressions through watercolor, oil painting, woodwork, photography and fiber arts.
New artists are especially encouraged to show their works.
Music
The Festival will feature music all day long with a new performer or group on the half hour.
Music will include oldies, folk, rock and contemporary Christian.
Local musicians of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate!
We need more people in every category: artists, crafters, musicians, and chefs. We need each and every one of our people to be recruiters for this event. Anyone who belongs to any group within the adjacent towns, let your group know they are welcome to come and participate, to share their story as we celebrate the spirit of Swansea.
Come and be a part of our celebration next year!
